A man drove his girlfriend's body across a state line to dump it in the woods, and died of a heart attack before he could finish the job.
That is the account from prosecutors in Chambers County, Alabama. Investigators say Daniel Robbins, 44, of Macon, Georgia, strangled 47-year-old Jessica Folds during a domestic attack, loaded her into his truck, and drove to a remote wooded area to dispose of her. He collapsed at the scene. The cause of his own death, according to the district attorney, was a heart attack. [1]
What's confirmed, and what isn't. The strangling, the body, the cross-state drive, and Robbins's death where he was trying to hide her all trace back to the DA and primary reporting. What no one can actually document is the part the internet fixates on: the precise timing inside those trees. "Heart attack mid-dump" is viral shorthand. The official version is narrower, that he died of a heart attack while disposing of the body. The irony is real. The minute-by-minute is not on record.
How does a person die from this? A 44-year-old dragging and lifting a body through rough terrain is under exactly the kind of sudden cardiac load that kills people shoveling snow or pushing stalled cars. The crime supplied the exertion.
The case is also, in a grim sense, already closed. Both people involved are dead, so there will be no arrest, no trial, and no testimony about what happened in those woods.
On Reddit's r/nottheonion, where the story landed, one commenter recalled reading years ago about a man who had a heart attack and fell into the grave while burying his wife in the backyard. [2] Another compared the whole thing to the "dark but weird sense of humor" of Tales From the Crypt. [3]
